NMFS Revises Magnuson-Stevens Act Provisions for Authorized Fisheries and Gear

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has updated the list of permitted fisheries and fishing gear, requiring advance notice for any changes or new activities in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) starting December 1, 1999, and mandating 90 days' prior notification to the relevant Fishery Management Council or the Secretary of Commerce for highly migratory species.
