IRS Announces Pilot Program for Debt Indicator for Tax Year 1999

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is launching a pilot program for tax year 1999, allowing authorized e-file providers, Form 1040 online transmitters, and financial institutions to obtain a debt indicator for their customers' taxpayers in exchange for actively screening individual income tax returns for potential fraud and abuse, and reporting the findings to the IRS.
