FAA Issues Airworthiness Directive for Bell Helicopter Textron and Southwest Florida Aviation Helicopters

The FAA has issued an airworthiness directive for certain Bell Helicopter Textron and Southwest Florida Aviation helicopters to address fatigue cracks in the vertical fin spar, following six accidents, including two fatalities, since the previous directive was issued in 1997. The directive requires additional inspections and replacement of the vertical fin spar to prevent in-flight failure and loss of control.
