General Motors Seeks Exemption from Fuel Tank Design and Certification Labeling Requirements
The Office of the Administrator, Motor Carrier Safety Administration (OMCS) is soliciting public comment on a proposal to exempt General Motors Corporation (GM) from certain fuel tank design and certification labeling requirements under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs). The exemption would allow GM to manufacture and operate commercial vehicles with fuel tanks that do not meet the OMCS' minimum fuel tank fill rate and certification labeling requirements, which are currently set at 20 gallons per minute.
