Changes to Quality Assurance Programs

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing to amend its regulations to permit power reactor licensees to make certain quality assurance (QA) changes without obtaining NRC review and approval of these changes in advance. The proposed rule would allow licensees to make routine or administrative changes that should not have an adverse impact on effectiveness of their QA programs. This action is intended to reduce the financial and administrative burden on power reactor licensees without adversely impacting public health and safety.
