Nuclear Regulatory Commission Issues Guidance on Using Probabilistic Risk Assessment for Low Power and Shutdown Operations

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued guidance for power reactor licensees on using probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) information to support plant-specific applications for changing the current licensing basis. This guidance is voluntary and aims to consider risk associated with all operating modes, including low power and shutdown operations, to support risk-informed regulation.
