NHTSA Receives Petition for 2000 BMW 5 Series Importation

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has accepted a petition from BMW to allow the importation of 2000 BMW 5 Series passenger cars that do not meet all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards, as they are substantially similar to previously certified vehicles and can be modified to meet the standards.
