FAR Council Proposes Changes to Definition of Commercial Items

The Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council is proposing amendments to the Federal Acquisition Regulation to clarify the definition of 'commercial items' and align with commercial practice, specifically addressing 'purposes other than government purposes' and associated services, in response to statutory changes from the Strom Thurmond National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1999 and the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2000.
