FDA Bans Over-the-Counter Laxative Ingredients

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a final rule stating that danthron and phenolphthalein, commonly used in over-the-counter stimulant laxatives, are not safe and effective for human use and are therefore misbranded.
