FDA Affirms Cellulase Enzyme Preparation as Generally Recognized as Safe for Food Processing

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has amended its regulations to confirm that a cellulase enzyme preparation derived from Trichoderma longibrachiatum, a microorganism previously known as Trichoderma reesei, is safe for use in food processing, following a petition filed by AAC Consulting Group, Inc. on behalf of Novo Laboratories, Inc.
