FDA Finalizes Rule on Colloidal Silver Ingredients in Over-the-Counter Medications
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a final rule stating that over-the-counter (OTC) medications containing colloidal silver or silver salts are not considered safe and effective for internal or external use, and are therefore misbranded. The FDA's decision is based on the lack of substantial scientific evidence supporting the use of colloidal silver ingredients or silver salts for various serious diseases.
