FDA Proposes Additional Criteria for Classifying OTC Drugs as Generally Recognized as Safe and Effective
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is proposing new criteria and procedures for classifying over-the-counter (OTC) drugs as generally recognized as safe and effective, and not misbranded. The proposed changes aim to streamline the review process and provide more information for OTC drugs initially marketed in the US after 1972.
