Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Launches International Demand Reduction Program
The U.S. State Department's Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) developed the International Demand Reduction program (IDR) in 1978 to help foreign countries combat illegal drug abuse by mobilizing public and private sectors in support of national narcotic control policies and programs. The program has been enhanced over time to include non-Federal agencies in the development of international networks to strengthen cooperation against the drug trade.
