US Banking Regulators Unify Capital Standards for Construction Loans and Leverage Ratios
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Reserve, the FDIC, and the OTS are amending their regulations to make uniform risk-based capital standards for construction loans on presold residential properties, real estate loans secured by junior liens on 1-to 4-family residential properties, and investments in mutual funds, as well as simplify their Tier 1 leverage capital standards, in line with the Riegle Community Development and Regulatory Improvement Act of 1994.
