Proposed Regulations on Consumer Information Sharing Among Affiliated Institutions

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) have published proposed regulations allowing affiliated institutions to share consumer information without becoming consumer reporting agencies. The proposed rule aims to facilitate communication among affiliated institutions, but some comments have raised concerns about its impact on compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act's (GLBA) privacy provisions.
