OCC, Board, and FDIC Propose Amendment to Prohibit Interstate Branches for Deposit Production
The OCC, the Board, and the FDIC propose to amend the uniform regulations implementing the Riegle-Neal Interstate Banking and Branching Efficiency Act of 1994 to expand the prohibition against using interstate branches primarily for deposit production, as allowed under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999. This change aims to ensure banks are reasonably serving the credit needs of local communities.
