US Treasury Issues Final Rule on Electronic Payments for Federal Agencies

The US Department of the Treasury's Bureau of the Fiscal Service has issued a final rule to amend its Management of Federal Agency Disbursements rule, requiring federal agencies to use electronic funds transfer (EFT) for non-tax payments unless a waiver is approved. The rule strengthens the EFT requirement and updates part 208's waiver provisions to reflect the availability of secure electronic payment options.
