NMFS to Review Status of Cook Inlet Beluga Whales

Summary

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is initiating a status review of Cook Inlet beluga whales to determine if they should be protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act or listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act, in collaboration with the Alaska Beluga Whale Committee and the Cook Inlet Marine Mammal Council.
