EPA Extends Deadline for Arizona's Ozone Implementation Plan

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has extended the deadline for Arizona to submit its revised implementation plan to meet the requirements for a serious ozone nonattainment area, from December 8, 1998 to March 22, 1999, following a reclassification of the Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area as a serious ozone nonattainment area due to its failure to meet the 1-hour national ambient air quality standard for ozone.
