Improvements to Marine Safety in Puget Sound-Area Waters

The US Coast Guard is seeking public input on proposed rules to enhance marine safety in Puget Sound waters, including the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary. The Coast Guard will conduct a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis to determine the feasibility of implementing new safety measures, such as extended tug escort requirements and a dedicated rescue vessel, following a recent determination by the Secretary of Transportation.
