OSM Reopens Public Comment Period for West Virginia Surface Mining Amendment

The Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (SMCRA) will allow fish and wildlife habitat and recreation lands as a postmining land use for mountaintop removal operations under the West Virginia permanent regulatory program, which was amended in 1997.
