Detroit Edison Company Seeks to Amend Presidential Permits for U.S.-Canada Electric Transmission Facilities

The Detroit Edison Company has submitted an application to the U.S. government to modify two Presidential Permits, PP-21 and PP-58, which govern the construction of high-voltage transmission lines crossing the U.S.-Canada border and connecting to the Ontario Hydro grid, with the aim of installing a phase-shifting transformer and reducing the operating voltage of the PP-58 facilities from 345-kV to 230-kV.
