1998 Marketing Quotas and Price Support Levels for U.S. Tobacco Crops
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced the 1998 marketing quotas and price support levels for various types of tobacco, as mandated by the Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1938 and the Agricultural Act of 1949. The quotas, which range from 0.665 million pounds for cigar-filler to 11.15 million pounds for dark air-cured tobaccos, are intended to balance supply and demand conditions.
