NHTSA Proposes Update to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard on Glazing Materials

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is proposing to update the Federal motor vehicle safety standard on glazing materials to incorporate the 1996 version of the industry standard on motor vehicle glazing, in response to a petition from the American Automobile Manufacturers Association and to address a few issues not covered by the 1996 standard, including limiting the size of the shade band and updating the list of code marks or numbers assigned to glazing manufacturers.
