FAA Proposes Revision to Airworthiness Directive for Schempp-Hirth Sailplanes

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes to revise an earlier airworthiness directive for Schempp-Hirth Models Standard-Cirrus, Nimbus-2, JANUS, and Mini-Nimbus HS-7 sailplanes to address a safety concern related to the tailplane locking hook. The revised directive aims to prevent the horizontal tailplane from coming loose, potentially leading to loss of control, after the FAA realized it had missed serial number 176 of the Schempp-Hirth Model Nimbus-2 sailplanes in its initial proposal.
