Local Multipoint Distribution Service

The Commission's rules for the Local Multipoint Distribution Service (LMDS) prohibit an incumbent local exchange carrier (LEC) or incumbent cable company, or any entity with an attributable interest in these incumbents, from having an attributable interest in an A-block LMDS license whose geographic service area significantly overlaps the incumbent's service area. This LMDS eligibility rule will sunset on June 30, 2000, unless the Commission extends it. This document seeks comment on whether to allow the restriction to sunset, or to extend the restriction.
