SBA Proposes Updates to Small Business Size Regulations Under NAICS System
The Small Business Administration (SBA) is proposing to update its size regulations by establishing small business size standards for industries defined under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), replacing the existing standards based on the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. The proposed changes aim to align the SBA's size standards with the NAICS system, which the SBA believes better describes the US economy, and will take effect for Fiscal Year 2001, starting October 1, 2000.
