Fair Market Rents for the Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments Program for Fiscal Year 1998

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has published the final Fair Market Rents (FMRs) for Fiscal Year 1998, which will take effect on October 1, 1998. The FMRs have been adjusted for 16 areas that received public comments and for 3 areas based on HUD-contracted Random Digit Dialing surveys conducted in 1997, while also reducing FMRs for 20 areas that were proposed for reduction in April 1997.
