NIST Terminates Validation Services for FIPS Standards

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is ending its validation services for certain Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), including COBOL, FORTRAN, and Computer Graphics Metafile, and will instead focus on developing conformance tests for emerging technologies, providing testing materials to private industry and government agencies.
