EPA Proposes Partial Consent Decree to Address Mercury Emissions Study Deadline
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has lodged a proposed partial consent decree with the US District Court for the District of Columbia to address a lawsuit filed by the Sierra Club, which alleges EPA's failure to meet a mandatory deadline for a study on mercury emissions. The proposed decree requires the EPA Administrator to submit a study to Congress by December 19, 1997, with a 30-day comment period following its publication.
