EPA Grants General Motors' Petition to Exclude Hazardous Waste from RCRA Regulations

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted General Motors Corporation's (GM) petition to exclude certain solid wastes from the list of hazardous wastes under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), allowing the disposal of wastewater treatment plant sludge from GM's Orion Assembly Center in Lake Orion, Michigan, in a Subtitle D landfill, subject to testing conditions.
