EPA and Department of Justice Reach Settlement on College of the Canyons Smelter Site Cleanup

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Justice have agreed to a settlement on the cleanup of the College of the Canyons Smelter Site in Canon City, Colorado, under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA). The agreement requires the site's new owner, Rocky Acres, to undertake specific cleanup measures and receive protection from potential EPA claims.
