Amendments to Rules on Shareholder Proposals

The Securities and Exchange Commission (``we'' or ``Commission'') is extending the comment period for its proposals to amend rule 14a-8, and related rules, set forth in Securities Exchange Act Release No. 39093 (9/18/97), 62 FR 50682 (9/26/97) (the ``Release''). The original deadline established by the Release was November 25, 1997. The new deadline is January 2, 1998.
