Additional Manatee Sanctuary Proposed in Kings Bay, Crystal River, Florida

The U.S. Service is proposing to create a new manatee sanctuary in Citrus County, Florida, near Kings Bay/Crystal River, to protect West Indian manatees from harassment during the winter months. The proposed rule would prohibit waterborne activities from November 15 to March 31, and is part of a larger effort to address the growing number of manatees in the area.
