Records and Information Management Definitions and Release of Information

The Postal Service is amending its regulations relating to the availability of records to the public. This rule is made necessary by amendments to the Freedom of Information Act, made by Public Law 104- 231, the ``Electronic Freedom of Information Act Amendments of 1996.'' The amendments address the availability of electronic records, the creation of a new electronic reading room, and procedural aspects, such as time limits, expedited processing, denial specifications, and reporting requirements.
