VA Proposes New Rule for Educational Assistance to Voluntarily Discharged Veterans

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is proposing a new rule that would establish effective dates for awards of educational assistance to certain veterans who were voluntarily discharged and are eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill--Active Duty (MGIB). The proposed rule aims to align with a statutory mandate and clarify that these veterans are not eligible for educational assistance before paying $1,200 to the Federal government.
