Nuclear Regulatory Commission Proposes Generic Letter to Boiling Water Reactor Licensees for Relief from Enhanced Weld Inspection Requirements

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing a generic letter to operating license holders of boiling-water reactors, excluding those that have permanently shut down, to inform them that the NRC staff has completed its review of the BWRVIP-05 report, which recommends relief from enhanced inspection requirements for reactor pressure vessel welds, and licensees can request permanent relief from these requirements for the remaining term of operation.
