Nuclear Regulatory Commission Withdraws Rule on High-Level Waste Disposal

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has withdrawn a proposed rule aimed at aligning its regulations with the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) standards for disposing of high-level nuclear waste in deep geologic repositories, as it focuses on developing site-specific regulations for Yucca Mountain, Nevada, under the Energy Policy Act of 1992.
