Dedicated Short Range Communications of Intelligent Transportation Services
The Commission is proposing to allocate 75 megahertz of spectrum for use by Dedicated Short Range Communications (``DSRC'') of Intelligent Transportation Systems (``ITS''). DSRC systems are being designed that require a short range, wireless link to transfer information between vehicles and roadside systems. ITS services are expected to improve traveler safety, decrease traffic congestion, and facilitate reduction of air pollution and conservation of fossil fuels. This action furthers the goals of the U.S. Congress, Department of Transportation and the ITS industry to improve the efficiency of the Nation's transportation infrastructure and to facilitate the growth of the ITS industry.
