FCC Amends GMDSS Maintenance Rules to Ensure Qualified Technicians

The FCC has amended its rules to require that at-sea maintenance for GMDSS vessels be performed by FCC-licensed technicians holding a GMDSS Maintainer's License, providing a grace period until February 1999, to allow existing technicians to obtain the license and address safety concerns.
