FDA Expands Safe Use of Chemical as Food Additive

The FDA is amending regulations to allow the use of a specific chemical, 2-(4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-5-(hexyloxy)phenol, as a light stabilizer and UV absorber in food-contact polyethylene phthalate polymers, following a petition from Ciba Specialty Chemicals Corp.
