FDA Approves New Animal Drug for Use in Animal Feeds
The FDA is amending its regulations to reflect the approval of a new animal drug application for chlortetracycline, a type of antibiotic, for use in medicated chicken feeds, following a submission by Roche Vitamins, Inc. The new approval allows for the use of chlortetracycline in feeds with a zero-day withdrawal period, enabling farmers to use the antibiotic in their chicken feed without waiting a full day before slaughter.
