FDA Amends Food Additive Regulations for Adhesives and Coatings
The FDA is updating its regulations to allow the safe use of certain adhesives and coatings in food, in response to a petition from Dow Corning Corp. The new rules will permit the use of specific chemicals, including dimethylpolysiloxane and 3,5-dimethyl-1-hexyne-3-ol, as long as they are produced and used according to certain guidelines.
