Department of Health and Human Services Releases Interim Rules on Mental Health Parity

The Department of Health and Human Services has released interim rules governing parity between medical/surgical benefits and mental health benefits in group health plans and health insurance coverage, building on the Mental Health Parity Act of 1996 and the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997. Interested parties can submit comments on the interim rules for consideration by the Departments of Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services.
