FAA Proposes New Airworthiness Directive for Certain McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Models
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain McDonnell Douglas Model DC-9, DC-9-80, and C-9 (military) series airplanes, and Model MD-88 airplanes, to address a fatigue issue with the pistons of the outboard flight spoiler actuators. The proposed AD would require either installing external protective doublers or replacing the pistons to prevent fuel leakage and wing structural damage.
