HUD Finalizes Rule on Coinsurance to Full Insurance Conversion

The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Housing, Federal Housing Commissioner, has finalized a rule that allows lenders to request HUD endorsement for full insurance on defaulted mortgages, and permits lenders to advance funds to cure mortgage delinquencies and reduce principal to restore project viability. This rule finalizes policies and procedures set forth in a 1995 interim rule.
