National Institutes of Health to Grant Exclusive License for Novel Opioid Synthesis Method

The National Institutes of Health is considering granting an exclusive license to Mallinckrodt Chemical, Inc. to practice a novel method of O-demethylation and N-deprotection of opioid compounds, which could improve the synthesis of synthetic medicinal opiates with high yields and without toxic reagents.
