EPA Grants CITGO Petroleum Refinery Variance for Hazardous Waste Treatment

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted a site-specific variance to CITGO Corporation, allowing the company to avoid using outdated treatment technologies for hazardous petroleum refinery wastes at its Lake Charles, Louisiana refinery, in order to complete the removal and disposal of the contaminated sludge from the Surge Pond.
