US Adopts Final Rule on Japanese Beetle Quarantine and Regulations
The US has adopted a final rule with two changes to the Japanese beetle quarantine and regulations, adding Minnesota and Wisconsin to the list of quarantined states and providing greater specificity on preventing the spread of the beetle via aircraft from regulated airports, in order to prevent its introduction into non-infested areas of the US. The rule also allows carriers at regulated airports to perform certain activities under a compliance agreement with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service instead of with an inspector present.
