FDA Requests Assessment of Infant Formula Nutrient Requirements for Preterm Infants

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is requesting the Life Sciences Research Office (LSRO) of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) to assess the energy and macronutrient levels in infant formulas for preterm infants with low birth-weight. The FDA aims to consider the LSRO/FASEB report and other relevant information to determine if the energy and macronutrient levels in term infant formulas need to be modified for preterm infants.
